    Bought a mill!

I removed the 6” riser and lowered the head back down to a normal height. Stacking blocks between the knee and ram allowed me to use the knee to raise the head, remove the riser, and lower the head back down. The riser can be installed easily enough if I need the extra height for a special setup.

    Bought a mill!

After I ordered the VFD to get 3 phase power to the mill, I began looking for a suitable enclosure to protect it. It dawned on me that I had an ammo can that might work. After cutting holes in both ends and adding some mesh for airflow, I have a military grade electrical enclosure. I will add...

    Bought a mill!

After several years of casually looking for a Bridgeport style mill, I finally got serious and bought one last weekend. It is a Willis model 1050 knee mill. It was built in 2007 or 2008. It has a 10”x50” table, 3hp motor, variable speed, quick change pneumatic drawbar, X axis power feed, way...

Front snow plow frame issue 149

The blade frame should be around 6” wide at the back. My blade came with a frame to fit a wide frame Cub. To make it fit my 100, I cut the frame behind the plate that ties the sides together. The pieces I cut off were swapped side to side and welded back on. Now, it fits on my 100 and 129. The...

    Rolling bearings under NF spindle

A friend of mine machined his front axle and added the thrust bearings. He said it made no noticeable difference. I believe most of the drag is between the axle bore and the vertical part of the spindle. On my 100, I heated and bent the spindles to about 3-4 degrees of positive camber and went...

Ag tread tires for 122 rear

I scored a pair of Carlisle Tru Power 23/8.5/12 on Amazon a few years ago for I think $65 each because the seller only had 2 left. A couple weeks later, they restocked and the price went back up to $90 each.

    149 rock shaft question

There are 3 spirol pins. One on the left deck lift arm, one on the right deck lift/ cylinder attachment arm, and one on the height stop/ front blade lift rod attachment arm on the right side of the frame. I had one of the pins partially shear and the blade would barely lift off the ground. I...

    Drive shaft constantly spins CC100

It sounds like the driveshaft is dragging in the pilot bushing. Lock down the clutch pedal and see if you can spin the shaft by hand. If it doesn’t spin freely, loosen the engine mounting bolts and move the engine around until the shaft spins freely and tighten the bolts.

    Spindle (knuckle) swap

I put 1” spindles on my 129. They came from a late year quietline 1650.

    Larger cylinder on 149

My 149 runs the 2” bore x 8” stroke cylinder on my dump trailer fine with no additional fluid volume. A double acting cylinder only needs enough volume to displace the area of the rod. As the cylinder extends and retracts, oil goes into one end and returns to the reservoir from the other end.

Cub cadet 102 snow plow help

I bought a wide frame blade for my 100 only to find out it wouldn’t fit without modification. I simple cut the sub frame arms in front of the offset and welded them back on the opposite sides so that the arms are offset outward instead of inward. The sub frame now slips over the rock shaft...

    Fix for CC100 steering slop

My 100 had slop everywhere it could have. Starting at the steering wheel: 1) The bushing at the top of the steering column was worn out and the wheel flopped around. 2) The lower bearing cup inside the steering box was worn through and the balls were wearing into the aluminum lower cap. 3) One...
