Everyone, I need some troubleshooting advise - 1450 starter "died"

Rey, not a joke I've had 2 batt chargers that had breaks in the leads.Found them by cutting off a ft at a time until I had good feed..gets a bit frustrating sometimes..(won't buy that model again)

Help with starter on newer xt1 46"

Nat, you've got part of it figured out but you need to find the cause. It will happen again.Only guessing a fuel leak is causing liquid lock.. I'm not familiar with xt but if it's gravity fed fuel it might need a shut off in line...A lot of little things to check out...

Help with starter on newer xt1 46"

Nat,If I understand you..you're saying starter stays engaged until you turn key off but engine is not turning...Try this, remove spark plugs and make sure wires can't touch metal. Note rather cyl had gas in them by turning by hand. This would be a liquid pressure lock if they have gas...If no...

Help with starter on newer xt1 46"

Not sure if I follow your description but here goes...Starters don't last as long as they used to but they are not terribly expensive .There are quite a few aftermarket ones available. If you're saying it just continues to turn but kicks out of the flywheel it is probably internal to the starter...

I'd buy the jet ski just to dismantle it to see how everything is connected.I am always curious...might have $20. worth of metal in it..

Everyone, I need some troubleshooting advise - 1450 starter "died"

BK, on my 1650 the tank would have to be removed. Not a big deal but I've never worked on a 1450.Just a reminder a sol. can "click) and not make a good connection for output. This is a pic of old sol cut apart to show they do get nasty inside ,over the yrs .

Everyone, I need some troubleshooting advise - 1450 starter "died"

Bk, Matt is right also,it may well be connections or cable..What I explained is a starter test only..You're dealing with 50 yr old wiring that may have never been unhooked so has corroded somewhere.

Everyone, I need some troubleshooting advise - 1450 starter "died"

Bk, you didn't mention if sol.was on starter or separate. If you jumped pos. direct to starter input post and it didn't turn..2 possibles(assuming 12v in jumper) starter does not work for internal reasons or it is not grounded good...I"m not assuming this is s/g system,it is a separate...

Ok guys I know the look but I went just a tad farther on a Wards gt..I put a 16 hp engine in it ,added gator wheels ,then went for the monster look.It does run like a beast but most don't really appreciate the not so friendly face...It was fun to do tho..

Hitch for towing two garden trailers/carts in tandem?

Randy..that is about what I was suggesting..looks like it should work...there you go Jim..He used square tube steel and came off the front all the way back...Assuming you can blow up a pic it shows pretty good...

    1650 returns to me..

Jay, thanks.I'm quite certain this one will be around a long time .It has such a solid feel about it!! Just maybe ,someday I can afford a loader for it...

Hitch for towing two garden trailers/carts in tandem?

Jim,considering the metal in most carts I don't believe I would want to bolt a hitch plate to the bottom. If you wanted to run something stronger from axle supports it might work

    1650 returns to me..

I always appreciated this 1975 1650 but a friend was in need last yr so I sold it to him..A quick message said he would sell it back to me at a very reasonable price and include the hyd blade he had added...In a heartbeat I said yes...The last hyd blade(lift only) I had was on a 129 and used it...

    Newbie - With a dream

Ken, I just refurbed a 70 and yours looks promising. It doesn't have near the rust mine did.The sponsors have many new and used parts.carb,starter/gen...Does it have coil?It is 12 volt....You should be able to turn engine by hand with front pto clutch(take plug out)...Stencils are available.Just...
