    ignition and motor mounts

Some discussion recently about ignition switchs..Mine took a dump on the 1650 so removing shows what 49 yrs can do. The burned area of connector was very old so it had been like that for quite sometime...The same being true for engine motor mounts..Engine vibrated really bad especially at shut...

    New from Virginia

Large, If I may be so bold as to suggest..pay attention to details. If it doesn't run don't believe "it ran when parked" engine might be gone...serious rusty hoods are hell to make them look good and shiny, some rusted parts need to be replaced.I've got a 128 that I still mow with often ,love that...

    Exhaust Issue...Insights?

Rick, just because it's been reengineered doesn't mean it can't be saved but it WILL take some time. The pipe showing is not in very far, maybe there is broken piece still inside the block.?If it were me...I'd cut pipe off and leave enough to grab, cut the jam nut off.If there is good metal there...

    Snow Removal Advice for 1650

My gramps used to tell stories of hooking up the horses and pulling a a large square beam set on an angle. He said it took a while but the downside was even when you got to the road you weren't going anywhere until the road got opened ...We are spoiled some...

    Snow Removal Advice for 1650

Character,Literally I've been pushing snow for 63 yrs so I have a little experience..My opinions:::2 wheel drive tractors are not the best for pushing snow,4 wheel are usually very good...I've used a blower on a tractor once ,the hardest part was seeing thru windows.Buckets on a tractor are...

    Belt size needed.

ZK,You could make your own, yes. The question will be weather the deck has enough air volume to push material(grass) thru the pipe..No 1 plug issue is grass with any moisture in it,just doesn't carry well. I encourage anyone to try new ideas, that's how we prove any new system...The best I've seen...

    walnut breaker

Last fall a lot of discussion over cracking black walnuts....At the start I had gathered 3-5 gal pails of shucked walnuts.I made up a mechanical cracker that would break everything else easily but black walnuts are at the least very hard to crack. Not to be beaten by enthusiasm I tried some thing...

Parts Wanted Key switch for 1000

Everett, you discovered what makes troubleshooting so difficult...you don't know what the last guy did!If he bypassed one switch because he had an issue what else?...So it's back to basics and that's why (for me) jumper wires work fairly well..

Parts Wanted Key switch for 1000

Well guys, that's why I have so many alligator clip jump wires.I personally find it easier to bypass something than spend hrs tracking a wire thru a 50 yr old harness or switch..If a bypass worked you've isolated the issue..And I HATE elec issues as well.I'm a self taught ***** but I get by.For...

    dieseling

Mike,DO you mean engine is making banging noises as it shuts down.? Recently found my 1650 motor mount rubbers were in very bad shape!! When it reached low rpm it made some serious banging noises which turned out to be mounting bolts slamming into front engine cover because rubbers were shot...

    Newbie

Franscesca, IT looks quite good so in So. mich. it might bring around 4 to 500 .If it is running and deck is working.Flat tire does not show well...If still stock it is a 10hp Kohler engine.....running really matters!!!

    Stuck brake or transmission?

Shellie, repeat what David said..!! If it's under warranty,DO NOT TOUCH...Mfgs will immediately put the blame on you..

    dieseling

Mike, you didn't say what engine. Newer carbs have solenoid on bottom to control fuel flow.If it is stuck open it could still draw fuel as engine winds down. This sol. came about because of backfires.Too many shut down engines at full throttle instead of idling down first thus sucking fuel into...
