    Plug for our sponsors

I would like to thank our sponsors. Without their businesses, our beloved little tractors would be infinitely harder to keep maintained and operational. Not to mention sometimes you find a cool little gem like my new cub coozie! So thanks and a big Bravo Zulu to Digger, and all the rest of you...

    winter projects to stay busy

I made an adjustable taper jig a few years back, I'll just have to play around with some scrap pine too get it to the angle and shape that appeals to me. I built a steam system a while back, so I might even try to do a keg as well.

    winter projects to stay busy

It hasn't been decent weather up here for a while. It's been cold, but we haven't had hardly any snow at all. My lake has about 6 inches of ice on it, I've been fishing a couple times, got a few meals of perch through the ice so far, hopefully a bunch more! I'm gonna move my shack and hopefully...

    winter projects to stay busy

Well Gary, my wife wanted me to make her employees something for Christmas. So I had some scrap blood wood and a pile of scrap hard maple laying in the shop. So I whittled these boxes out on the band saw. They have purple flocking on the interior, and 5 coats of shellac. I think they turned out...

I love working with exotic hardwoods. You get that much more of a challenge. All of your tools MUST be RAZOR sharp, or it's gonna be a long day. I learned big box store blades just aren't flat enough, or sharp enough. On my table saw, i started using ridge carbide blades, with a 5 inch Forrest...

    winter projects to stay busy

Well, it's past time to start making Christmas gifts this year. I got my first ones done. My buddy is a chef on a yacht in the Mediterranean sea, so these spoons will be going to him. They are made from canary wood. And the start of a cutting board that they are laying on is going to the same...

    Islandgirl from Ponchatoula, LA.

Welcome aboard Cathi and Junior! This is the place to learn all about cubs. Many, and I mean many, of the guys here are more knowledgeable than the engineers that designed these awesome little tractors! All the parts you need are easily found through our page sponsors. As far as your questions...

    10/22/22 Roanoke Illinois Plow Day

Haha, I just checked my email and I never sent the message, had it all typed, and never clicked send! I didn't know it was yours. I can't make the plow day, I have a couple brothers from the navy coming up that weekend for our annual bird hunt. I have they plow saved, so when it works out, I'll...

    10/22/22 Roanoke Illinois Plow Day

I just asked my wife if I could contact this guy and head down this weekend to look at this plow. She thinks a 17 hour round trip is ridiculous, when it's not for a tractor. But what does she know, I've sent this guy a message, now to wait for his reply. The hardest part is gonna be get my bride...

    Gardens 2022

My taters did really well this year, the bear destroyed my corn though. Which, by the way, I can definitively answer the age old question- does a bear crap in the woods? NO, he does it in my garden!!! Hopefully the carrots come on strong, I planted calydoscope carrots, and this one happened to...

    Champion generators, any good?

I gotta disagree, ash ain't to bad compared to pine. I hate everything about pine, the needles poking ya, the sap all over the place, even when your building something with it, it leaves pitch on your blades. Damn, I hate doing anything with pine. The needles will even plug my brush chipper!

Woodworking advice for period-correct shelves in antique walnut hutch

If it were me, I'd go with 3/4 or 5/8 thick, and give the face edge a round over, on top and bottom, on the router table. This will give you the strength you need and the round over will give the appearance of a slimmer profile. You could also use 1/2 thick cabinet grade walnut plywood, and...
