Garden Tractor Daze, Portage WI July 14-16, 2022

I wish it was closer, where would I look for similar Ohio shows? Thanks, Curt

    Greetings from North Central WV!

My second Cub was an 1862, my first a 149. I can't remember what I paid for it but I do remember it had 68 hours on it and I believe a 44 inch deck. Power steering, I was in heaven. My next Cub was my first Super, a 1872 with the 60 inch Haban. The 1862 and others in this series were known as...

    Off-topic mower blade option question

In my defense I only use Lunatic mode when I'm trying to beat a storm. My yard is pretty well stablished but that still a beating on the tractor.

    Off-topic mower blade option question

With the 2284, I'm about 2 and 1/2 hours. Leisurely mowing with the zero turn is about 2. In lunatic mode I can do 1 and 1/2 hours, the suspension seat makes that possible. Lunatic mode is one of my wife's descriptions, yep pretty accurate!

    Cyclops !!!

Probably a B&S Vanguard. I think I remember reading that the Vanguard needed a valve adjustment at 500? hours.

    Cyclops !!!

Hey Bill, congratulations! Is that a 14HP Kohler Command?

    Off-topic mower blade option question

I figured I cut my grass about 35 times a season, it's about a two hour task. There are probably only about 5 mowings that I'm cutting grass that 's not too tall, grass that is about to take possession of my mower or moving into August grass that is brown and crunchy. But it looks good for those...

    Off-topic mower blade option question

I put Cub mulching blades on my Tank this season. I can see a difference in the distribution of the discharge. I think zero turns generally do better on tall grass becauce of the blade speed. I always get caught in the spring unable to mow due to water, then when it finally dries out it's 6 or 8...

Recommendation for "Good" Fuel Shut Off Valve

True, but I found a 12 v source that was hot with ignition on and if I remember correctly I just spliced it into the fuel line.

Recommendation for "Good" Fuel Shut Off Valve

I think I'd go with an electric valve similar to this one. I used a similar valve on an 1872 that would occasionally bleed gas into the crankcase...

Tractor Wanted Cub Cadet wanted 0-3K$

Thanks for the correction. I've owned about every flavor of Cub but all of mine have been Kohlers, hey I got the first letter correct...

Tractor Wanted Cub Cadet wanted 0-3K$

Welcome aboard! I'd lean toward a super also. I'm partial to the last generation, 2084. 2284 also referred to as cyclops. They are taller heavier and can run a 60" deck easily. I'm partial to the Cyclops because they were powered with Kohler Command engines that in my opinion are more trouble...

    1711 fuel in crankcase

I've had the same problem on several Magnum engines, the solution for me was to install an electric fuel shutoff.

    Best Shop Vac??

I have a couple of Rigid vacs that I work pretty hard. They are in a woodshop and work well in addition to some water cleanup duties. I think they were Black Friday deals a year or so apart.

    USPS SUCKS!!

We have had really good carriers for the most part. We had one short term carrier that would put packages on top the mailbox if they wouldn't fit. We had some clothing left on the box that ended up in the street. On another occasion a package was left on the porch with the mail and a couple...

    Kohler vs well, everybody else

I've had Kohlers in a 149, 1860, 1862, 1872X2 and an 2284. So thats a K series, Magnum series, and the Command series. They have all been quite reliable. I purchased a Tank about two years ago and have had several issues but none of them were related to the engine. (Kawasaki)

    Deals

I recently had some furniture I wanted to sell. I put it on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace. I got 10 or 15 requests from Marketplace, zero from Craigslist. The Facebook ads are free also, just another option.

    Question

I also have a love hate relationship with grease guns. I started using the 5 gallon bucket years ago, solved 1 problem. I don't recall how many times I'm on the last zirk and the gun runs dry. Upon inspection there's plenty of grease but it's on the wrong side of the plunger. More than once I...
