    While we are talking K17. I just pulled mine out of my 782. Does anyone want it as a parts engine? It ran just weeks ago. It has a bad oil leak that never tracked down but Carb, air cleaner, coil, is all there. As I said it ran the day I pulled it.

    Make sure the case od the condenser is grounded nicely. If there's paint under the mounting strap or the strap doesn't grab tight on the condenser, you may have issues.

    I too would bet on a Timing issue. Only other things can think of would be Hydro locking if way too much gas is pouring into cylinder.

    The two large nuts you show in the picture and the relief valves. They appear to be very dry. Post #3 has a guy , Mach tech, who will take your valves, cut them open and fix them. But they looked dry.

    Although the gas cap vent would be a valid issue IF the engine was stalling after a few minutes of running. You State that it runs and restarts fine. Problem lies when the machine sits. I don't think gas tank venting is an issue. I'm leaning toward the stupid shutoff on bottom of carburetor...

    Today I'm going to start up Tug (my 782) drive it behind my barn, disconnect the Snow plow, drive it back up here just to shut off the KT17 for the last time. I have an opposed twin that doesn't smoke, doesn't leak. It has no Points or Condenser. It starts like a dream in below freezing Temps...

    I have the original schematic. 10 years ago I made s new harness. No ignition key...Main toggle Switch to send 12v to coil as well as to headlight and Mule switches. Ill simply csp off the 12v wire to voil and add a switch to Ground to attach to new coil. I assumed this, was just confirming...

    The original kt17 needed 12v to the coil for the On/Off. New to me engine has a magneto setup so Now the On/Off function will be nothing electrical to Run but the Off will be Shorting that coil to Ground. Correct?

    No, definitely not the same color wires. I did have access to many different colors so it did help. I made a nail board so it was all layed out and cloth taped. It went in as a big one piece harness. It's been installed over 10 years now.
