    K model exhaust thread

Aside from the possibility of cracking exhaust port on the engine, I would be more concerned about the chance of someone getting burned by a hot muffler or pipe. That someone would include me Haha! On a full sized tractor that kind of exhaust set up is inaccessible to small hands and bodies...

    saving a few dollars

I also just drilled the spot welds, but used allen heads screws with nylock lock nuts. That is working well for me, and would do the same again if the need arises.

    Those &%$*! Roll Pins

Learned my lesson years ago. Don't use a bolt. Fix it right.

    Opinions

I too changed to a smaller pulley on my QA 42 more than a few years ago. The gear box needed work anyway, so it got new bearings, and shafts. If I remember right, I changed from a 3.5" to a 3" pulley. It did make a difference. A year or two ago I added rubber flaps to close up the gaps at the...

    Cant Remove pto clutch

I will swear by using urethane w/s sealer, it's worked well for me. A little bit no larger than a small pea on each cog. Maybe we don't really need one on every cog but, I figured the springs always fall out so, after the urethane hardens it may do the same after years of use but, plenty...

    Pull behind lawn sweeper

I made a cover for the discharge opening on my deck. You could also buy one From Cub Cadet years ago. I think CC called it something like a "mulching attachment" or cover. This is on my 149 with a standard 42" deck. It keeps most of the clippings and chopped leaves under the deck.

    Cant Remove pto clutch

Over the decades of Cub Cadet ownership, I have rebuilt my front PTO clutches more than a few times. The springs were always missing, and I always installed new ones that came with the kit, only to have them disappear in a short time. Yes, the clutch got noisy, and irritated the hell out of me...

Perhaps An Experiment Is In Order

Beating a dead horse is the best, "correct", "suitable", answer. I too painted many cars, so I also have first hand knowledge of how much paint matching can very. I'll bet that even the "correct" paint suggested by the "correct police" has varied over the years.

Perhaps An Experiment Is In Order

What I have come to realize is that paint matches can very greatly. Quality control, and paint companies varied from year to year, model to model, paint batch to paint batch, and from different attachments and their manufacturers. Also there may be difference from spray can to quart can from the...

    Pull behind lawn sweeper

So, he would just drag the tarp around his yard until it was full of leaves? I have an Agri-Fab lawn sweeper and don't see the advantage of dragging a tarp around versus pulling a rope to dump the hopper.

Cub 169 no spark after burnt points

I left the key on for too long recently on my 149. The coil got so hot the oil started bubbling out the top of it. Still ran, but the coil kept leaking oil so I replaced it.

    Thoughts ?

Is there any good reason for hacking up a Cub Cadet (or any other garden tractor) like that, other than just because he could.

    Blade or thrower?

I have a 149 with QA42 snow thrower. Over the years that I've had it, I've tried some of the "improvements". First was to change the pulley on the blower from 3.5" to 3" (If I remember right). That seemed to help some. But, not much improvement with heavy wet snow. Next was painting graphite...

IH Cub Cadet White/Yellow Spray Paint

I've used Rustoleum in the past, and didn't like it. I ordered Valspar implement paint from Amazon in quart cans, and found I like it much better. I think you can get same paint in spray cans. If you're ordering quart or gallon cans you can also get a hardener additive. # 4432-15...
