    Spray Guns

And so, there's another problem mentioned in a previous post. When using a cheap synthol enamel with no hardener, most any solvent including gas spilled on it will have a tendency to lift or wrinkle your new paint, months or even years later. All the great paint prep and spray guns cannot...

    Spray Guns

I can't help it; I have to state the obvious. The mix ratios should be on the back of the paint can and the hardener can.

    2082 value?

Greg, I see that you live in Minnesota, I do too. I've been looking to upgrade my 149. If you decide not to buy it, let me know where to find it, I might be interested.

    Engine oil

I couldn't agree more. I believe the troubles with ruined camshafts and lifters started long before the reduction in zinc. Mostly on modified, rebuilt car engines and not properly breaking in a new cam with flat tappet lifters. I've never even thought about adding zinc to my 149 when changing...

    QA-42A speed up pulley

It's been a few years since I repaired my angle drive so, my memory may not be all that accurate. But both gear boxes had sealed bearings no additional seals were on them. One gear box had had all four bearings that were the same. The other had three the same but one bearing was narrower than...

    QA-42A speed up pulley

Well then my 2/4 paddle theory isn't going to fly. What about the longer chute and the adjustable mount only on QA42A's? I've also noticed that angle drives are different also, 3 mounting bolts versus 4. Internal parts seem to interchange.

    QA-42A speed up pulley

I believe the QA42 has two paddles and the QA 42 A has four paddles and a longer chute.

    QA-42A speed up pulley

I did the paddle and pulley mod on my four-paddle thrower. Definitely worth the effort and I highly recommend doing both.

    Hello All

"Like an Ol Chevy a lot used a resistor wire or a porcelain resistor before the coil and it maintain a steady voltage it makes a big difference on the coil, and keeps the apart from bouncing up and down as it heats up while running for the day !!!!" If I remember right, the reason for a...

    Parts For Sale Snowthrower

I did a complete resto on my QA42A a few years ago too, sandblast, paint, bearings, etc. I brushed a few coats of graphite paint on the chute and a few other places. The reason for brushing is that I've tried the spray can graphite, didn't like it, didn't cover well, even after multiple coats...

    Mower Blade Nut Frozen

Maybe it's time for a little sarcastic humor. Make sure you're turning the right way. "Lefty loosie". No one has mentioned that.

    Mower Blade Nut Frozen

Zip off, zip on with a half inch impact. That's all I have ever done for as long as I can remember. No grease, no anti-seize, no drama. If you don't have an air compressor, buy a battery impact, you won't be sorry.

sharing a trick(?) to remove speed handle

My first thought too. This is going to be interesting. Hopefully I will learn something new.

    Tractor Wanted 1650 or newer

Must be hydrostatic with hyro lift. Prefer a twin cylinder. Doesn't need to run but, priced accordingly. Driveshaft models only.

Cozy Cab on a 72 series SGT?

I have a Cozy Cab on my 149 for snow blowing, don't ever want to blow snow without a cab, ever again. I have been looking for an 1872 or 2072, don't really need that much more hp but, wanted a twin cylinder with power steering, better starter/ charging system. The plan was to adapt the cozy cab...

    Snowblowers

I had to do some experimenting with grease and oil in the gear box for my QA 42 in the past. I put new shafts and bearings in the angle drive a few years ago and thought I could try sticking to what I thought was the factory recommendations, straight gear oil, and of course it leaked enough for...

    Fan really ??

My first thought was that the one bladed fan caused enough vibration to make a slightly worn shaft and seal to leak. A new fan with a hose clamp may cause the same out of balance condition and the leak will be back. It just takes a while for a small leak run down from the hydro area to the floor...

    Fan really ??

I failed to mention on my earlier post that I was keep the engine and hyro clean. I have never owned a brand-new CC and the used ones I have bought over the years always got a thorough cleaning right after my purchase. That might have something to do with not having any consequences of not being...

    Fan really ??

I will pass on my experience with driveshaft fans. I've owned a few different CC's over the last 50 years. I replaced the plastic fans a few times. and finally gave up. Mostly because I didn't notice when they broke a part and ran just fine without one. I've mowed my large yards in 90+ degree...
