    Cold Start

I don't know if this is possible to do with a 782 but, my 149 was impossible to start in the cold Minnesota winters. So, I bought a complete clutch set- up from a gear drive and installed that. Now depressing the brake pedal to start also releases the clutch (like a gear drive) so the hydro pump...

    Snow blower project

I have been attaching my snow thrower way this for years. I might add, to tip the thrower forward, and install the lower pin first, then when tipping it back up, slide the drive shaft together (at the slip joint) making sure the yokes for the u-joints are lined up properly.

Cub 1862 plow or snow blower

It took me a while to figure out how a comparable walk behind snowblower can take up less space and be easier to store than a snowblower attachment. Then the answer came to me.... The tractor/snowblower attachment are dedicated to blowing snow only. The snow blower is not replaced by a mower...

Cub 1862 plow or snow blower

Blowing snow against the wind is not fun. I bought a used sim cab and adapted it to my 149. Front turf tires are worthless for steering (same as a plow). I made chains for the front tires. Chains seem to destroy front wheel bearings quickly, converted front spindles to Timken bearings. Snow...

    Fuel sediment bowl elimination

I like the idea of a ball valve with an inline fuel filter. The reason I started shutting off the gas was that over the last 40+ years of Cub Cadet ownership I've had the float stick open and drain gas on my floor a few times. The front tire sat in gas and swelled the rubber. The tire eventually...

    Fuel sediment bowl elimination

I've been doing the same thing for years. I shut the valve off when heading towards my garage. It usually always keeps running until I get it parked. I do this every time I use my Cub Cadet. It eliminates any chance of a gas leak from the carb and also the gas odor in my garage.

    Fuel sediment bowl elimination

If the bowl is leaking, why not just replace the gasket? Make one if you have to. I kind of like the sediment bulb type fuel filter and shut off valve. You can easily see if there's a lot of dirt or water coming out of your tank. If you must, replace it with a shut off valve and a fuel filter. I...

I have to take the motor

My experience with the so-called Kohler knock, was to either adjust the points gap (don't remember if larger or smaller gap) or the knock came from the front pto when it was not in use. The fix was to put the dumb little springs in (that never stayed in for me) or the best fix I discovered was...

    Larger cylinder on 149

I have a 149, I assumed the 147 was the same when I noticed the seemingly identical opening under the seat.

    Larger cylinder on 149

That is nice work but, where is the battery and voltage regulator now?

can I get some feedback on home-made control pedal development?

Just got around to watching this video and now realize that he removed the deck lift shaft and linkage. This removes the blade and snow thrower/blower lift also. He does say that his mod is for loader and backhoe use.

    CC 1450 S/N 205066OU604956 return to operation

People who spell words that way shouldn't be taken seriously, are a minor irritation, probably misspell other words and that lead to a confusing and sometimes misunderstood post when you have to try to translate to their words to the English language. :errrr:

    Smoking Coil

My question at this point now is, did CC ever sell a GT with an external resistor?
  15. J

    Smoking Coil

I wonder if anyone is confusing a coil mounted condenser with the legendary "external resistor" that may have never been used on Cub Cadets?
  16. J

    Smoking Coil

From what I remember, early cars, etc. only needed an external resistor when using a 6-volt coil in a 12 volt system. The 6 volt coil got the full 12 volts when cranking to start. Once the engine started and the starter/key switch returned to run, the 12 volts ran through the resistor reducing...

    USPS SUCKS!!

Put a spring on the door so it closes on its own or mount the box upside down. :errrr:

    Steering wheel removal

I haven't used a steering wheel puller for decades after I found out how to use an air hammer. And yes, always back the nut up so it's flush with the top of the steering shaft. Nothing is quicker or less damaging to the steering shaft.

    Deals

Last Fall I found a Cyclone Rake Yard Vac on FB Marketplace, only about 30 miles away, messaged the seller several times, no response. The ad is still there. I don't understand. I've known sellers that complain that they advertised an item, got responses, made appointments to meet and no one...

    Deals

When selling, the seller should make it clear, FCFS. I wouldn't take the word of someone I've never met, whether buying or selling. Yes, times have changed, we have no choice but to change with them. Free ads on FB Market Place or Craigslist attract all kinds of personalities including scammers.
