Tractor Wanted Cub Cadet 1872 or very similar model

I live in cental Minnesota, about 100 miles north Minneapolis/St. Paul. Would be willing to drive a few hours or maybe more for the right Cub Cadet. Need not be running but, should be priced accordingly. Preferred with mower and snowblower and related accessories. I would also like to have...

    Looked at this today

This is about the same set- up I have on my 149. The steel cab does add almost enough weight for good traction with chains. I wouldn't want to blow snow without it. Now when I blow snow, the only inconvenience on windy days is that I have to reach up to switch on the wiper. Getting in is a...

    Snowblower question

I'm going to guess that the PO had a manual lift cub cadet. As mentioned earlier, a longer arm would make it easier to lift. In the past, I had a 123 with manual lift. It was difficult to raise and to push the button to lower the snowblower. Even with the spring assist option. Getting 149 with...

    149 voltage regulator nightmare

I couldn't agree more! I've had various models of Cub Cadets since the late 70's. Unless the V/R is obviously burnt somewhere, the fix has always been to the draw a quick diagram of the wiring or take a picture. Remove the V/R, take off the cover, look for hot, burnt spots, if there are none...

    149 voltage regulator nightmare

Ok, since I too have a 149, I'll ask the obvious question. If you replace the S/G with an alternator, how would you then start the engine? Am I missing something or is everyone just ignoring this post? Also I know that an auto alternator takes a fair amount of HP when charging.

    But they left their DOGS

I downloaded and opened your attachment and all I got was an old advertisement to purchase Microsoft Office 2010.

Tractor For Sale Cub 149 with mower deck

Seems like a pretty good deal, surprised it hasn't sold. But, why have a spring assist on a hydraulic lift?

    Por 15

My experience with tank sealers is that they will eventually deteriorate and flake or peel. If all you have is rusty looking sediment in your bowl, then drain the tank completely to get rid of the water that's causing the rust, flush it with some sort of solvent and dry it out with compressed...

    Disable 2084 seat switch?

Sounds like the reverse over ride switch is just another a distraction when backing up and mowing. I would think it would be more important to always be aware of our surroundings, especially when backing up and, not add to the things to do when mowing in reverse. Not to mention the additional...

    Disable 2084 seat switch?

I don't understand all the paranoia about disabling a switch. I never heard of any actual law suits over this. Just a lot of what ifs. If your uncomfortable don't do it for yourself or anyone else. Deny any knowledge of knowing anything about doing it or having done such an "unsafe" modification.

Starting your cub in COLD weather.

I really doubt any mods to the ignition system is going to help much at 10 or even 20 degrees or colder. The engine just can't spin fast enough to start. Mine would fire but didn't have the power to start. It seemingly would even fire and kick backwards sometimes.

Starting your cub in COLD weather.

I live in Minnesota, Winters can get pretty cold. When I had an unheated garage, my 149 was almost impossible to get started for snow blowing. I tried the magnetic heater, it may have helped some but, certainly wasn't a big enough improvement for me. I finally discovered through internet...

    1962 horse

I guess with the vague description given, I completely misunderstood what the actual item in question was. Maybe, instead of not allowing "what is it worth" we should all make the effort with using oem terms. I wrongly assumed that a "horse" was a localized slang for Wheel Horse. I've never...

    1962 horse

So, it's not a Wheel Horse and it's not even a tractor. Maybe this is why "What is it worth" questions are not allowed. Try Google with the description given. Then we will all know why that type of question is not allowed.

    1962 horse

If you want a price range for a Cub Cadet, just look at the for sale adds on this forum. If you want a price range for a Wheel horse, find a Wheel Horse forum and, search the for sale ads there. That's just one starting point for a price range. There is no accurate answer to "what is my item...

    1962 horse

I really believe the would be seller would be better off just doing their research on values for their area. That would be just as accurate or more so, than asking opinions of people that can't really tell the condition of a tractor from a picture or a description. A predicted price range isn't...

QA-42A - blew up the input gear today

Mine had a cotter pin too. I believe it kept the drive shaft from falling off when the set screw came loose. I tried a longer set screw with a lock nut and blue loctite didn't stay tight. Drilled and tapped for a second set screw, now it stays tight.
