Cub Cadet qa42a soon to be qa42b snowthrower

I dont know why yours is so abrupt. Just my opinion but these are what 40 ish year old units? Been working with the original equipment all this time. I don't see much reason to reinvent the wheel. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe you need a new pto switch as you say yours is difficult to move? You do know on a...

Cub Cadet qa42a soon to be qa42b snowthrower

I would say the combination of bad bearing (definitely going to be some unwanted motion from that) and abrupt engagement caused your tooth problems. Always engage at lowest rpms possible. I try to ease the switch in but your right really they are on or off. Have a H42 thrower on my 782 for 2...

Sold QA36A snow blower part needed

I dont think there is really any reason to loosen that nut. The only thing it does is push against the frame when your loosening the belt to take it off so that the gearbox will move instead of the bolt threading out. Just needs to be loose enough for the adjustor bolt to turn.

    Plowing snow

Key is take your time and don't get frustrated. Chains big or small can be a pain. But not that bad usually with a lil thought. I don't think small ones are usually too bad.

I do like the 2000 and 3000 series. Still shaft drive and the v twin kohlers in the larger sizes. They are not nearly as heavy duty as the cyclops and earlier but do a decent job mowing. The decks are pretty easy to dis mount and mount, at least the 46" and smaller. 48s are a bit more of a...

Everything is worth something. I'm told the 15 hp kohler is the same engine as the 18 but de tuned a bit via a different carb. Good engine imo. Same frame as the rest of the 82/cyclops so a good base for a project. As far as worth....I prefer an 18h with power steering so.....unless it's a...

    Scrapping out CC 169

Wanna bet? 😁😁😁😁 ok your right but it kills me to see something that could make a good machine or still pretty much is be parted or scrapped. Some of this stuff is getting old enough that it's getting harder to find so whats left should be saved if it's reasonably easy to do so. They ain't...

    Plowing snow

Those look home made but as long as they fit in the wheels and bolt pattern is right they will work.

There are links to wiring diagrams somewhere on this site. I found my way to 1862 diagram here. The micro switch under the dash may be for the hydro lever. I think it's suppose to kill the deck when you reverse. On the seat switches on mine one was normally open and one was normally closed...

    Plowing snow

Wheel weights are fairly universal for garden tractors. There are at least 2 different bolt patterns, tho I think that's from weights for smaller tractors with smaller wheels. Just measure your bolts directly across from each other. I think 8" bolt pattern with 12" Dia weight is what your...

    Scrapping out CC 169

Dschandt I believe the gentleman is elderly and may no longer be up to working on things. Rene I hope you don't scrap it. Hopefully you can find someone near who likes to tinker with this kind of thing and either help you or take it off your hands. Good luck. Advertise it on Craigslist or...

    Hello from Illinois

A nice looking one just came up for sale in my area with cub iron wheel weights a snow blade, ag style tires and a 50" deck for 1900. Oh it also has a 18h kohler magnum. Nice looking unit. I think a lil on the high side but maybe not. Pre pandemic I bought a 782 with a rebuilt 18h magnum...

    551 Blues

I dont think I would try the angle iron..I'm not sure it would clear everything nor am I sure it would be strong enough. Also I was thinking those shafts were not always that easy to get apart. Or at least I think I have read others having trouble. Not tried it myself. I was thinking metal...
