    122 Trans question

I'd at least make sure whatever you end up using is compatible with yellow metals, i.e. the bronze sleeve bearings for the axles. Some newer fluids are not. I wouldn't use ATF. If the pulling page is the one I am thinking of, there is a lot of info on it that is either wrong, misleading, or not...

    482 wiring question

No...it is a magneto. Look at the wiring diagram that was previously posted. Magneto is non grounded to produce spark, and grounded to not produce spark. Applying voltage to it will ruin it.

1962 Cub Cadet Driveshaft Bearing Size

I assume you are talking about the thrust bearing, parts 16 and 17 in the diagram below? If so, they are a standard thrust bearing and washers. Match up by ID, OD, and thickness. McMaster-Carr or a local bearing supplier will have them.

need serious input on k17 kohler

Put some marvel mystery oil in the oil and work it hard. It might clear up. If not, KT-17 Series II will swap right in, and an M18 will swap in with some minor electrical mods. Kohler Command V-twin is more work but also a good swap. A Series I KT cannot be 'rebuilt' easily, as all of the...

Wanting to do engine oil & filter? change for my October 1964 IH Cub Cadet 100 with 10hp Kohler engine.

I would still recommend Hytran for the transaxle...the later gear drive tractors dropped SAE 30 motor oil from the recommended fluids for the transaxle. Most likely there was a reason for that. Hytran will cling better and deal with moisture intrusion better than motor oil will. The current...

    K321 Rebuild

Is it so bad you can't cut the threads a bit deeper in the port with a 1" NPT tap?

    982 international cub cadet

IH built 982, so the split brakes were optional, not standard like on later machines.

    Missing part question

The handle is gone, not broken. The threaded stud attaches a small angle that holds the lever in the released position.

    1812 oil injected ?

Remove the deck and subframe. Deck needs cleaning and blades sharpened anyway.

    Swapped in used k321

The marks are there...note that there are a couple different possible locations depending on where the sight hole is. Also possible someone has mixed and matched parts and the sight hole is not in the same place as the marks.

    Swapped in used k321

How did you set the ignition timing? Sounds like it is too far advanced if it is spitting out the carb and the valve lash is ok. Use this procedure to set the timing: http://mgonitzke.net/cubcadet/tools/static_timing.pdf

    1812 oil injected ?

I does, right in the middle.

    1812 oil injected ?

If you order a new OEM breather assembly, that is what you will get.

    1812 oil injected ?

I think it should come of without taking all that stuff off, but it has been awhile. I'd do a better job of cleaning before any further disassembly though. That is the "old" breather. New one is a metal reed valve and should actually work.

    Engine turning over

Does it turn by hand when it stops? Will it turn easily for many revolutions with the plug removed? Is it trying to fire and 'kicking back' when it stops, or stopping like there is an obstruction? If it isn't firing out the carb or kicking back when it stops, it is NOT timing. And if it only...

    782 Hydro Leak Help

It's not going to get sucked into the transmission through a leak. If there was suction, there would be no leak. Need a picture from the top with the frame cover off, since you've said the leak is coming from that region.

    782 Hydro Leak Help

DO NOT use Teflon tape there. Those fittings are flared. The flare must seal, so not only will that not help, if a piece of tape gets into the charge pump it will ruin the hydro unit. Make sure the flares and fittings are not damaged. You may have a fitting that is not tight enough, but more...

    1812 oil injected ?

Why? Fix the carb and/or fuel pump and change the oil. This is an extremely common issue with these engines. No need to throw the baby out with the bath water.
