    Model 100 engine

There are decent quality aftermarket parts available that should quite a bit less than that. Use an OEM governor gear. Other parts, aftermarket will be fine. Still will be more than $400 including machine work for a proper rebuild. You will spend a LOT more than $400 cobbling a different engine...

    SG Question

Did you go through the rest of the procedure I posted for troubleshooting excessive output? Being that you remove the wire from the "F" terminal and charging stops, it probably isn't the starter/generator itself. I doubt you ended up up buying 3 bad new regulators- if this keeps happening you...

Is this snowblower rlly for a IH cc 782?

That looks like an H42 or H48, which are for 82 series. The latter was for the 982 and needs an adapter package to fit a 782.

Hydrostatic power steering problem on CC 7284

This is probably not a super common model amongst the membership here, but I'll take a stab at it. First thing I'd try on a system like that is to change the fluid and filter on the hydraulic system. Use an OEM or good aftermarket like Wix or Baldwin filter. The parts diagrams make it look like...

Parts Wanted Key switch for 1000

Make sure the connector on the back of the ignition switch isn't melted. A bad connection there will cause it to heat up and melt the plastic connector, and nothing will work right after that. I would also function check the PTO switch with a multimeter to make sure it is working as intended...

    Spindle cap left side

Sort of, but not really...the pin hole gets worn egg shaped in both parts, and yes, if that is left that way too long, the spindle and bellcrank will both wear on each other. Once this has happened, there is probably no saving either one, and it's time for a better used spindle assembly and the...

    Spindle cap left side

That should be a coiled pin and not a roll pin. This is a very common wear point on these machines. The best fix is to ream the hole with a tapered reamer and install a tapered solid pin.

The only oil pan for a K241 in a Cub Cadet is KH-237588 (per the Cub Cadet parts lookup), which is "B2" in Jacks Small Engines generic parts diagrams for a K241. Those do not necessarily have the correct part numbers for a Cub Cadet. The CC parts lookup has the correct part numbers for the Cub...

    I got one

Nice find. Harder to store than a 450/451 but much better mounting, lift, and drive system.

There is one Cub-spec K241 oil pan. I guess two if you count the deep sump one used on the K301-K341. Maybe yours didn't have the flat one anymore, and somebody changed it to the K301-K341 style? The 102 owner's manual states 1 1/2 quarts, and that's what every K241-powered Cub Cadet I had used.

Engine oil capacity is 1.5 quarts, and gear drive trans oil capacity is 7 pints. That is a pretty nice original tractor!

    dieseling

"12HP Kohler" = K301? Tractor model would still help. What Gary is saying would only be a possibility if it is a 1250 ,1282, 1210, or 1211. What happens if you let it idle for 5 min before shutting it off? Are there any signs it is overheating, such as the muffler elbow glowing? When is the...

    orginal paint

Paint codes are here. Correct shade of white is determined by serial number. http://cubfaq.com/paint.html Since CIH seems to be discontinuing Iron Guard, getting paint mixed like you are will be the only way to get quality paint in the right colors. This 100 was done with the colors from that...

    Belt size needed.

On the previous page he posted pics of the tractor. It has electric lift, and the stop bracket is visible in the pics.

    Belt size needed.

I don't see why the lift arm stop would not still be there or work with hydraulic lift. The cylinder is set up to float by default. The numbers on the detents on newer machines don't correlate to any physical measurement of deck height anyway. What I've always done is cut a block of wood to my...

    Best model opinion?

782, 1711, 1811. All are essentially the same machine. The 782 was the most refined IH machine, and 1711 and 1811 produced by MTD are still essentially the same tractor. I have been using a 782 for all four seasons for 10 years. If I could only have one tractor, it would be that.

Parts Wanted Key switch for 1000

See if the connector has melted on the ignition switch due to a bad connection. Check the PTO switch in a similar fashion. You can try wiggling the PTO switch if it won't crank. New OEM ignition switches are still available (IH-61524-C3). For $35 I wouldn't bother with another 40+ year old...

    K301 Timing Mark HELP!?

The surefire way to find them will be to take the flywheel shroud off and wire wheel the periphery of the flywheel, find the marks, and paint the stamped marks. The marks are there, but may be faint. Rust makes them difficult to find. I don't have a pic in my static timing doc because they are...

    SG Question

Are you sure you are connecting the regulators correctly? The terminals must match the correct wires, and the terminals will not necessarily be in the same physical location on every regulator. For example, a lot of the newer ones have the "GEN" terminal on the back.

    Sprayers and weed control

What you are perceiving as "low quality" in seals, o-rings, etc. is more likely the wrong material for the wrong application. There are quite a few different O-ring materials, not all of which are compatible with all fluids, and if you are just buying them from a bin at a hardware store you may...
