    Electric lift on 129

You will get full travel with an attachment installed. Adding a pin through that second set of holes allows down pressure to be applied. For a mower deck, you want it to float, which is how it is configured now.

    Electric lift on 129

Electric lift on a 1x9 is pretty uncommon...this is not helpful at all. In what way is the travel "too short?" Not lifting the deck off the ground, or not lowering it very far? Not much to adjust. If the lift stop cam is in place, it will prevent the deck from lowering past a certain point...

    Won't start

Take the breather cover off and see if the valves are both moving when the engine is rotated. It should be pretty obvious if one is stuck open. It's usually the exhaust valve. Head has to come off, and valves need to be removed and have stems and guides cleaned, then reassembled with a new head...

Wits end with twisted PTO belts

Do all three spindles spin freely with no spindle belt on the deck? How about the tensioner idlers and the idler pulleys at the front of the tractor? What belt specifically are you using? Got a link? Not all belts can handle the twisting in this application. It needs to be for a mower. If all...

    Cub Cadet 107

I would clean up and paint the dash tin where it is supposed to be painted, then cut out the logos and labels and apply them to the repainted dash tin. That will look better/closer to original than just putting that whole huge decal over the tin.

    Adding PTO to 71 Help

IIRC the Cub top shaft is much longer. I vaguely recall someone posting here years ago about modifying one to work in a Cub Cadet. You are correct in that the PTO top shaft for the Cub Cadet was only used in tractors so equipped.

    IH Cub Cadet 70

That information is in the Kohler service manual, which you should be referring to for numerous other things during the course of a rebuild. It is a free download from Kohler's website: https://resources.kohler.com/power/kohler/enginesUS/pdf/tp_2379.pdf

    Adding PTO to 71 Help

You will need a Cub Cadet-specific top shaft with the splined end for the rear PTO. The transaxle housing and differential are the same. Various internal parts such as the top shaft of the trans are not shared with the F cub. Hence, you cannot just put a PTO from a Cub in Cub Cadet without...

    Won't start

Contact point file, a piece of ordinary paper or cardboard, or electrical contact cleaner. Do not use sandpaper, emery cloth, or other abrasives...the grit will embed in the points and pit them.

Cub 125 42" Mower Deck Spindle

The one on the bottom should be installed "backwards" so that excess/old grease can escape when the spindles are greased.

1210 Electrical Issues, Kohler Command 12

The center wire coming out of the rectifier is the one that connects to the battery through the ignition switch. Looks like that would be the purple one in your pic.

    New to me 169

Nope. The 16 HP shakes enough it probably cracked it, or the hinge bolts came loose and got worn, etc.

2072 hydro relief valve fell apart installed/need advice please

I'd try one of those magnet-on-a-stick things to get the rest of the pieces out. They should not be able to migrate far, and certainly would not have ended up in the transaxle.

    New to me 169

Looks like the hood nosepiece got replaced with one from the next series of Cub Cadet, as those didn't have the vertical part separating the headlights.

    1973 PTO Belt Questions

2 schools of thought here...if the clutch holds, is not missing pieces, and does not have more than 1 or 2 of the 'fingers' broke off of the friction disc, you can replace the bearing and keep running it. Verify dimensions, but a Fafnir/Timken RA100RR bearing crosses to the bearing in your...

    1973 PTO Belt Questions

Got any pics of the center pulley on your deck? I wonder if someone put the huge center pulley from the oldest version of the 48" deck on there. Those tractors used an 81" belt... Since you are going to start tearing into this thing to fix the PTO bearing, you'll likely find the service manuals...

    1973 PTO Belt Questions

Belt info can be found here: http://cubfaq.com/belts.html 48" deck on that tractor uses IH-489397-R3 3/8 X 75-1/2". I'd suggest getting this OEM belt. Aftermarket 3/8" belts do not work well in this application.
  18. mgonitzke

    Belt size needed.

If you are looking to prevent rust, adding the wash port is the last thing you want to do. Water and grass clippings make an acidic mixture that will rust the deck faster. The wash port won't get it 100% clean, and water will get in crevices between parts and rust it out anyway. If you like to...

    Snow Removal Advice for 1650

18" is a lot of snow for a blade unless you have a lot of weight on the tractor and the snow is very light. I'd be looking for an 82 series or 'cyclops' model with a 2-stage snowblower. That will take care of any type or amount of snow you get.

    Model 100 engine

I have not personally used these, but most people seem to have good luck with them: https://isavetractors.com/ultimate-engine-rebuild-kit-kohler-k241-10hp/ As David said, have the block and crankpin measured before ordering so you know which bore oversize and undersize rod (or standard if you...
