I have a 149 that does wheel stands when told to slowly move forward. Is there a pressure adjustment for the hydro? If so what should the pressure be and where do you adjust it?

Upgrade NowIn wh cc guy's case, most likely and I agree, he should go through all of the checks. But that may not necessarily be the case. I have a 1650 that was very jerky and I have gone through all the aforementioned checks. Trunnion was in great shape but I tacked the corners anyway and dressed with a file to get nice sharp corners. Linkages are all free and in good shape, that is no loose links or binding. The only way I could get it to be less jerky was to replace the springs with old worn out springs and even then, it's still jerky. Read through the links pertaining to 'trunnion' and 'hydro adjustment'. The issue is mechanical linkage.
No I haven't and don't want to if I can avoid it. Oil, filter, gasket, shipping, and taxes all come to around 150.00. That a lot if not necessary needed.
It's virtually impossible to make any money off of these machines, new or old, by getting, repairing and "flipping" them. That's not what it's all about. We love these machines for their ( mostly ) well thought out designs, durability, quality of builds and the history of a true American made icon. We "hobbyists" appreciate all those things about these machines.Unfortunately these days it is pretty difficult to flip these and make any money. 15 years ago when I stopped fixing and reselling, it was difficult, and now tractor selling prices are about the same but parts cost 50% more. I have put probably $1500 average in each of my 3 current worker machines to fix all of their issues and make them reliable. I would never be able to get all that back selling them.
You have to get them cheap to start with, preferably with options you can remove to resell later. I never painted one to sell it, seems like a waste of time. Also you have to have a good parts tractor collection to use for replacement parts. How long have you been flipping?Just got this tractor. Received it with another 1450 that I bought. As a hobby I buy and repair and try to get most of my money back. With the price of parts it is hard to do. This 149 was a nursey owned tractor that was used for everything.
So far I have rebuilt carb, replaced points, condenser, front tires, front wheel bearings, switch and spring that keeps it from starting in gear, two of the hydro shift plates, voltage regulator, idler pulley for mule drive, shaft drive assembly for 1 blade on mower deck, mower belt, rebuilt steering gear with ross bearing. two tail lights, new decals, and repainted among other things.
I think the 149 are selling around 4 to 600.00. That would put me around 400.00 upside down already. Don't want to invest a lot more if I can help it, but I want to find out why it is doing what it is doing.
