I bought a 1450 acouple years ago the guy said the motor was rebuilt but since I have owned it there has been no real idle speed I tried adjusting carb but still can't get it to idle

First thing would be to check the throttle shaft slop and carb settings..

Check that the governor is adjusted and functioning. Is there a spring from the throttle linkage to the governor? I assume the carb on a 1450 is like my 149.
