Cub Cadet 782 trouble.... Send help! LOL

Good evening, my dad has a CC 782 with the K17 motor, he started having an issue this summer with what seemed like the fuel. We discussed this with a gentleman at a tractor show and he suggested to change the fuel pump. Well we did that today (part finally arrived) and it seems to be working, however, now it will only run with the choke at half choke which it never use to do, and the throttle seems to be a bit off. I figured I can adjust the spring on the governor to get the throttle correct by changing the hole it is in, but thrown for a loop why prior to the fuel pump it never needed the choke and now after a new pump it will only stay running on half choke, any tips?

If it isn't getting enough fuel, adjusting the governor will not help. Leave that alone.

Did you get an OEM pump or aftermarket? Is the carb clean? What was the issue you were having that made you decide to change the fuel pump?

Is the fuel line from fuel pump to gas tank clear? Can you blow back though it?

Eddy..not mentioned yet. perhaps an old fuel line was cracked in handling it to change pump or fittings aren't tight so you could be sucking air..closing choke changes the ratio of mix...

Yes, everything with the lines seem fine and unobstructed.

My guess is the carb needs a rebuilding.

Wish you were closer, i just retired my K17. The Carb, Coil (harley davidson coil) Starter are all functional. Retired this running engine because of bad oil leak.

I got an OEM fuel pump, the issue that I had prior to the pump made it seem like it was the governor, but after talking with someone at a tractor show, changed the pump upon his recommendation. I will inspect the fuel lines, and if those look fine, will try cleaning the carb. Will update after those steps, thank you all for your help thus far!
