Hello, my name is Rich Hubbard in Connecticut. I had picked up a Cub Cadet 123 that had been left out in the weather for a long time. Not that I just retired, I may have some time to work on it some. Bought a new wiring harness last weekend; trying to get the control tower sheetmetal off to clean and repaint before I change the harness. The steering wheel nut I got off, but the steering wheel is not budging; and then I need to get that dowel pin out for the shifter handle and it is buried behind the steering column. Any ideas would be welcome.

i use a small bearing splitter puller under wheel so it does leave marks with tee puller and 3/8 impact pops then right off no damage loosen nut to end of threads leaving full threads in nut to protect threads once wheel pops remove everything

Had same problem with my 102. Had to use a sabre saw and made longitudinal cuts on the steering wheel hub. Notice I said cuts. That sumbitch seemed welded to the steering shaft. Don't pound anywhere with a hammer.

Finally got it off. Used bearing separator plate under the wheel and drilled a piece of plate for 2 bolts to connect to the bearing plate and with an impact gun it came off. Hooray

awesome bearing splitter worked steering wheel removal seems on going trouble for many but fairly easy with couple things

Wow! I did not have a bearing separator plate or anything like it. Had to make three longitudinal cuts on the steering wheel hub. Tapped the cut pieces off. Was left with what appeared to be nasty welding residue on the shaft which ground off with a Fein Multimaster.
